So Ana treated me to a birthday lunch in Market Square.  We ditched our normal shorts/wife-beater tanks for cuter outfits – me in a skirt and “fancy” tank, her in a pretty green halter dress.  Chick Pea got in on the action in an adorable pink dress and Moose looked superfly in his Tommy H. romper.

We ate at Trio, a cute little cafe that serves a variety of sandwiches, paninis, salads, etc.  Since we are both still full-time nursing mommies, we ate like horses: Pressed Tortilla, Big Kahuna panini, baked macaroni, cheese grits casserole, and cornbread stuffing.  Damn.  Good.

In my head, I envisioned we would be sitting in our cute outfits with the kids playing quietly in their highchairs, Ana and I discussing the important issues in the world.  Instead, it played out like this:

We didn’t see the high chairs and booster seats when we walked in, so we put the kids in the booth next to us.  I decided to feed Moose a jar of baby food, but he wanted to nurse.  Of all days, today was the day I forgot my Hooter Hider and we were both wearing outfits that required complete disrobing to nurse.  Pea was getting restless, wanted to run around.  Our damn umbrella strollers kept falling over from the 20 lbs of crap we shoved in the little mesh pockets in the back.  Moose was getting restless, starting grabbing everything off the table.  Next thing you know, Moose is covered in my Tangerine Green Tea and Pea is trying to escape past her mom and run around the restaurant.  I don’t think we actually had any kind of conversation besides a 2 second commentary on the McCain-Palin vs Barack-Biden tickets.

After lunch, we decided to walk around the Old City and look for interesting wall structures so Ana could take some pics to build up her portfolio.  Again, we were looking super-cute, but the only comments we got were from homeless people and construction workers.  Then again, that’s pretty much all you’ll find in the Old City right now.  So we took some pics, sweated our cute little asses off, went back to Trio for a tasty treat and headed home.

Overall it was a good day.  Its a good thing we both have similar expectations of our friendship – I don’t think either of us noticed or even cared that we didn’t exchange a word at lunch.  We have our best conversations in the car anyway 🙂  Check out Ana’s blog for pics…
